That stuff you put in the diesel tank when filling up. Does anyone use them here in Malta? If so which one did you use and from where and what was your impression?
Thinking I should give them a go especially due to my LRE-style tweaked injection pump. I'm trying to not think of the amount of crap that would have built up at the injectors by now.
So... opinions.
Best thing since sliced bread or urban myth?

i use those fuel cleaners on my moms car - dawoo racer efi petrol. They prove to be very good but in my opinion that is lapazz. If you think that you have dirt in your system (you're noticing smokes etc etc) than you should service the system. It is true that you would burn about lm40 but next service will not be before the next 5 years. Remember that good fuel system=power+pleasure:scratchCh

If you think there's unwanted stuffin your diesel system, I'd rather service it than use a 'magic cleaner' :) Unfortunately it costs a bit to get the pump serviced but someday you'll have to do it anyways :)
A while ago when I was buying diesel, a trucker told me that I could run my 2.5NA on kerosene mixed with used engine oil.... can kerosene be used for a few miles to get the system flushed or is this a kamikaze idea??

I am not such an expert on these things but Joe on an older engine you might use use kerosene with engine oil.. new not used ta gieh il m%£%£... though still if it was meant to run like that they would have done it like that in the first place..
In the fuel strike i had used kerosene with some oil on my old range rover bit toyota tat truck tal haxix (3.0L tad dyna).. then again if it blew up hmm not really bothered... On the 300 hmm i am reluctant to use biodiesel ahseb u ara kerosene...
dennis ara ma jfettilekx titfa kerosene jew hekk.. these magic stuff i dont really beleive in them myself but who knows...

Dennis i have been told by a rather authorative person in Mellieha who knos 300's inside out that the best way to gain power on a 300 is to remove the fuel pump take it to one of these diesel specialists and he will sort of re map the fuel distribution.. It will cost you some money ovvja imma suppost it does not harm the engine unlike the other methods...
I myslef prefer leaving things as they are... the 300 has enough power for my needs.. if i want more nohrog iz zghira :) that is slightly faster hehehe... well actually a lot more faster.. :) :)

hehe. Cil my 300tdi already had this fuel mod. It goes like STINK. Like a demon on steroids and some adrenalin pumped in while at it. Almost feels like a Batmobil sometimes. It is apparently PERFECTLY SPOT ON because I don't get overheating and not too much smoke unless I floor it (obviously it overfuels till the turbo catches up), but tons more power.
I'm not too keen of taking it to a diesel specialist because I'm thinking he might lose these settings and I'll get back less power than before if he tunes it back down... or even worse consequences if he tunes it even higher... This fuel pump messing WILL destroy the engine very quickly if it's not done 100% right...
Therefore I think the best solution is to leave it as is. I don't have problems really. Just wanted to do some "preventive maintenance". Was just thinking of putting some Redline or Redex or whatever they call it in just for the hell of it hoping it does what it claims to do (obviously I don't believe or need the power increase... but maybe the cleaning bit is true)

Exactly.. don't want to mess with it. I just want to give it a one off "clean" with that Redex stuff. Let me put this on the main forums lets see what the british ppl think about this stuff.

Theres a forte diesel additive, its a one off treatment, cleans it all out. A few of us have used it on boat engines as well, and are pleased with it. My local garage recommends it pre MOT if emmissions are dodgy, they say they have had cars with smokey exhaust, put a tin of Forte in, sent them for a long drive, and they have come back clean!
