i got my new computer recently and downloaded realplayer onto it. now, it'll download files onto it and play them through the internet, but the homepage wont connect when you open realplayer. it says this page cannot be displayed and check that you are working online. any ideas, could it be summut in the settings or summut to do with my virus settings? ask if you need more info, i don't know if i've given enough.
cheers, ben

Do you know the URL it is trying to connect to? You could try opening a browser and pasting the URL into the address bar and seeing if Internet Explorer can connect to it. Perhaps the URL is out of date, or cannot be connected to by anything at the moment. If IE can connect then you'd have to have a look at the settings re: Real player.

As a test I downloaded and installed the Real Player latest and greatest, and the URL it is trying to connect to is
http://uk.real.com/guide/pnon.html?
and I got in no problem, so it doesn't look like it is the website.....

Realplayer is the spawn of evil, a better alternative is a classic version of windows media player which handles the files just fine, without all that nasty extra crap, skins and bloat that RP has these days.
