There's also Bazooka and Adaware which you can try which might detect more than the Microsoft one, being that Microsoft probably don't want you touching/detecting somme certain stuff. ;)

I've got Spyhunter - I paid for the upgrade to the full version but it's updated regularly and easy to use.
Had a bad couple of days - I'll PM you later with the gory details but right fed up :( Even Tim's been sympathetic!

Ive just downloaded Microsofts versions and so far, not bad.
I normally use Ad-Aware which i find the best along with AVG Anti-virus which again is free.
Ad-Aware from here http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5
AVG from here http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10342876.html?tag=lst-0-2
Hope that helps

I'd always used Spybot and thought it was doing a good job, until an online virus check (I do one occasionally just to double check on things) found some something that my virus scanner/firewall hadn't stoped. It was some sort of adware worm and I tried everything to remove it, eventually I downloaded Ad-Aware and hey presto it removed it and several other adware thingys that Spybot had missed.

Microsoft's one tends to NAIL everything after all who is better at writing something to spot "alien" code inamongst your own code than the authors of the OS.
We are now into week 2 of a side by side comparison of MS Anti-spyware and AdAware Personal and the MS programme is stopping stuff that adaware lets through  .
Our anti-virus at work is McAfee though I personally prefer AVG and not just because it's free.
Microsoft are going hell for leather for Symantec's throat and Billy "goat boy" Gates is claiming that MS will have their own AV soloution within the next 12 months. watch this space.

Spybot and Adaware are different tools for different things, so you really need to run them both.
There's a difference between adware and spy software, but they are both bad.
I use Spybot and Adaware, and we have a few 'sacrificial' machines at work (it doesn't matter if they get zapped by something nasty) on which we're trialling the MS AntiSpyware. But the MS one isn't always going to be free - you'll have to pay for it eventually, only the beta is free (apparently).

A stand up comedian to boot?
If their coding was that hot, why are they still patching software years after rollout?

I'm sorry we don't have any in stock at the moment. I'd reccomend you go and sit down in a cool dark place, hopefully staring at a non computing item to refocs your mind and spirit.
Otherwise go and play with your Landie :)

You try writing over a million lines of code and get it right first time out of the box.
They have created an item of software that has to be all things to all men (and women) so of course there will be bugs in it as they cannot cover every eventuality all of the time. If you were looking for a bug free OS then wait 2000 years whilst they iron out all the foibles before releasing it.
The bulk of Microsoft OS issues come with 3rd party software and drivers, stick with what microsoft reccomends and approves and their OS runs sweet 99% of the time (even ME! though that WAS a bodge).:D

What you need is something that is virus proof, adaware proof and spyware proof. something that isn't affected by those exe programs of various forms that try to download themselves looking like ringtones and the like and generally annoying you and your life.
There is something that can do this.
It's called "Linux" or "Mac" (but haven't been on a Mac for a long time! ;) :) :) :D :D :D

I can only speak as I find, and only yesterday MS Beta found six adware programs I my PC that Adaware se did not. But I will still run both, just to make sure.

Run as many as you want, but make sure they're legit programs not more spyware in themselves.
