I have just been given an upgrade disc for Xp home to upgrade to Xp professionall .
Does anybody know of any issues that I may encounter before I upgrade (or is upgrading realy worth the hassle)

Its Not Worth The Hassle
IIRC, the differences between home and pro are very little,
the one main difference is that pro supports multi-processor systems

If it isn't broken, don't fix it. I've never yet seen a Microsoft upgrade that worked 100% (and I've been unlucky enoug to have to work with it professionally for over 12 years).
I use xp home on the "home" laptop and xp professional on the "work" laptop because thats what they came with.
I run the same applications, software and hardware.
I've never come across any noticable differences or problems with compatability.

When I specced this PC last year I chose Home cos it was a *lot* cheaper than Pro IIRC. Pro had one thing I would have liked but which wasn't essential for me ... can't remember what it was now though :p

The main difference is the networking capabilities of the two, Home isnt designed for networking where as pro is.
Personally i only use pro - and thse days i only use a legit version too
