we got a letter from BT saying we were being upgraded to 2 meg broadband from 512k....

they said it would happen in the next few days, according to my router it went up to 2.2 Mbps about 3 hours ago....

F***ing hell it's fast!!!!! Images load instantly, d/l's are way faster etc etc

Only probs is that they also added a 15GB/month download limit :(

But work it out, are you going to use that 15GB limit? Plus you can upgrade to 30GB by paying the same as you were when you had 1MB speed, as they also reduced the cost when they upgraded you to the 2MB speed. Or at least they did for me.. :D

My BT was upgraded from the 512k to 2Mb on 5th March.....as you say Fookin quick...........

Although the 15GB limit is imposed, unless you are a serious downloader, this won't affect you......you would need to download shed loads of movies and stuff to hit the limit.

Occasional browsing, downloading a few Mp3's and stuff like that won't come anywhere near the limit. 15Gb relates to about 5000 Mp3 tracks!!

Anyone know if there is there any limit on uploads?

Upload will still be 512K tho and the 15gb limit will most likely asply to ALL traffic, thats both up and down traffic added together.

Out of interest, how much are BT fleecing you for the pleasure of a 2mb service?

Don't know - my works pay for it :D . Currently on 1 Meg, and I'm on Business Broadband so it will probably be different to the domestic variety. But I did get the letter saying they would be upgrading me.

That wouldnt be a bad price if it wasnt for the daft D/L Limit imposed on it. Think i'll stick with F2S, theyve seen me good for over 2 yrs now :)

Im with tiscali and weve had 2.2mps for about a month now

it started off when we ordered the 256k, but they messed up and we got the 512k for the price of the 256k

then they sent an email saying that the 256k customers would be getting 1mps, and that the 512k would be getting 2mps, all for the same price.

so now we've got the 2mps for about £14.99 a month, with no download limits :D

And boy is it quick :D

Will be a while before we 'see the light' up here ...

- no chance of upgrade to the exchange ... :(
- satellite is too costly as far as I'm concerned
- Hydro are seriously dragging their heels with bringing it in through the power points.

Hey ho, at least the views are nice while you wait for your downloads :D

I know how you feel, couldn`t get broadband where I lived before ... I could knit a jumper as I waited for music or whatever to download ... one of the first things I did was get hooked up when I moved to "civilisation" again! .......... whooooosh :)
