OK another silly question ... I'm getting bored with work today
When I've got 'track changes' on, why does Word keep changing the colour? Let's say I'm working on a doc today and the tracked changes / comments are red. Then I open it again tomorrow to carry on, and they're lilac, or green ... It doesn't matter in the slightest, tis just a bit puzzling ... :Idunno:

Red means spelling error.
Green means grammer error.
Yellow means....
BTW, remember, it is Microsoft Word, so it is a bit biased to the American ways of speaking and engrish. ;)

Thanks Steel but that's not quite what I mean. I'm talking about when you have the track changes tool on, tis a different thing ...

I *think* its showing what tracked changes were previously made but not accepted when the document was last saved... if that makes sense.... could well be wrong though havn't used it for ages.....:)
Interesting. I use it quite a lot when docs are passed to me for comment at work and I have never noticed the changed being anything other than red.

Differences in the 'review' settings maybe? dunno know what else would account for it behaving differently (had a quick look at Microsofts site - but you need an interpreter/PHD to understand what they're on about....;)

Mmm ... yep in the settings you can force your chosen colours for insertions, deletions etc. but they all set to auto on mine, well 'by author' anyway, ie Word will choose a different colour for each person ...
The theory of different colours for changes made at different times would be sensible but it doesn't seem to be the case, as when I open it and get a different colour it's the same new colour throughout.
Bizarre. One of those things that doesn't matter in the slightest but I'm cursed with an enquiring mind and I don't like not knowing the answers to life's little mysteries ... :D

It's because...
...today you'll do some work and it'll show it as red say...
...then tomorrow it'll show the same work as a different colour, but todays work red...
...then the day after tomorrow it'll show the 1st days work in another colour, yesterdays in another colour, and todays in red...
...this is so you can distugish (sp) between the different days work as you are still tracking the changes.
Does that sound right Bernie?
