What is the procedure advised by Land Rover when the head gasket has gone and needs to be replaced, can anyone advise on the proper action that is to be taken when head gasket is to be changed.??

What exactly needs to be changed/replaced when it is being done, so i can ensure it is done properly, as i have my Freelander 1.8 XEI booked in at my local garage to have it done next week.

I have been told by my local service dealer garage that the engine has to be degunked inside the water pipes, etc.. head gasket to be changed (obviously), dowls need to be changed, head bolts need to be changed, ans also the cambelt why they are at it.!!

Is this all correct.?? or is there something else that also needs to be attended to.??

The price i have been quoted for this is £480 + V.A.T does that sound about right.??

I was gonna reply to this yesterday but as it was over and done with thought it'd be a bit late!! Anyhoo.. Yeah, cambelt is always a must when doing these things. They were right in what they changed, but not sure why they wanted to replace the dowels?? only pence anyway. Hope they stuck a new set of plugs in there while it was all out.

Glad its all sorted.
