Check the settings in control panel. Provided they are all plugged in correctly then its probably just the setting for stereo (2), or 2.1, 4, 4.1, 5, 5.1 etc.

Right click your speaker icon on your toolbar ... adjust audio properties/speaker settings/advanced/& change it to 5.1 ... see if that helps :) I`m assuming you have the right sound card for 5 speakers :)

Have you tried re-installing the drivers?

Have you tried re-installing the drivers?

Or even checked that they are installed and the hardware works??

The easiest way is with device manager:

1) Hold the "Windows" key down and press pause/break key this brings up a window of all sorts of goodies!!

2) Click on the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button.

3) In "the list" that comes up there is an expandable bit for Sound, Video and game controllers, if there is a problem then it will show up as device not working - you can from there enable/disable a device, re-install drivers and everything else.

BEWARE tho, if you dont know what u are doing dont mess with ANY other items in there, you can easily stop your puter working properly!!

Good luck :)

Graham,

Just remembered that a mate of mine got a new pc complete with surround sound speakers ... I was demented trying to get them to work! turns out they hadn`t put the correct soundcard in it in the first place! They sent him the right one & I put it in ... sorted!

Worth giving them a ring if you still can`t get it to work :)
