300 tdi timing belt

Hi all,

My old disco has completed 137,000 mls. timing belt was changed at 90,000 mls.

Do you think I should continue with my my anti timing belt failure method of only talking nicely to her and closing my eyes when I open the bonnet or should i change it now?

Hi,

I would defenitly keep to the recommended changingintervals or even before its due to be changed. If you do it yourself , its only a days work (with lots of coffeebreaks) and it gives you paece of mind (the bolt and the crankpulley are the only difficult bits to remove). Otherwise, the way i noticed that the belt was going to fail was when i looked inside the hole for the wadingplug (in the timing case) and found chavings from the belt.
If you find them, then don't waste any time and replace it ASAP!!
