OK, so a little bored at work. As usual the Internet came to my relief! Saw on www.superchips.co.uk (http://www.superchips.co.uk) that they offer a +30 BHP increase on the disco 1999-2004.
Has anyone had this done?? and do you notice an increase on power and fuel consumption??
Thanks

Been thinking about it....... mate had it done by Essex turbos (I think) along with a larger intercooler on his TD5 defender and was well pleased with the results

Try Tunit (www.tunit.co.uk) I put the module on my 00 Disco, well worth the £400 I paid for it, all of the claims they make performance wise are true.

I quite fancy the option from JE engineering, pre 2002 model ecu's have to be either replaced or re-chipped, post 2002 can be tuned with testbook only.. JE do a chip swap, I would say avoid any kind of plug in module, they often don't suit large drivetrains due to the slight delay's etc.. I had a 2002 td5 defender and it was definately in a better state of tune than my 2001 td5 disco is  so I'm pretty sure I'll be visiting JE before long :D
I'm waiting till July to get one fitted :D when I change insurer from one that says NO MODS. :(
Anyone used these guys?: http://www.famousfour.co.uk/wshop.html
Just checked the superchips site and found that I can get a programing box that they claim will give me an extra 40bhp on my Durango. That's not bad for £300ish.
Wonder if it will improve my mpg...standing at 10mpg at the moment.

I've been there a few times, they stuck my cruise switches in for me and I got a quote from them to replace all the discs and pads, was a good price, but in the end I got brakes including a new master cylinder sorted on my warranty from Nene, so I havent had any mechanical work done there as yet, but I do plan on getting my 72k mile service done there next month. Found them to be nice people, up front, good prices and handy for me a its only 15 mins away ;)

Their prices look reasonable. Let us know how you get on.

Yes, I used J.E. Engineering Coventry on my Series TD5 when I first bought it in 1999. I had the intercooler upgrade too. They say it takes the BHP to approx 190bhp. It certainly feels like it. More power at low revs - pulls away better- less gear changing - improved mpg if you don't over do it. Tows like a dream. Cruises on the M-Way like a petrol....etc
Well worth every penny.
mmm, a visit to JE is next on my wish list :D
Shrek, had my 72k service, 299 tokens incl all parts/vat etc.. A good job done, lots of fresh grease everywhere, quite obvious they went over the whole vehicle :D
Also a very good plus for them, I went to have the bushes changed in my watts linkages, hence the donk donk when the vehicle rocked side to side, when they went to fit the bushes they found the unit to be faulty/worn beyond repair, happily they were able to go out to their yard and took one from a vehicle they are breaking, £25 for the linkage + £25 labour :D

Hi All, I've tried several differant chips and downloads some taking my 2004 disco well over 200bhp:rolleyes: and it is amazing but.... I've learnt the hard way that any thing over 160bhp is capable of warping the exaust manifold:( if used like a race car for long periods of time, in the last 2 years I've warped 7 manifolds until i modifided one by grinding out the webs between the ports on the manifold.
If you dont warp the manifold you'll start beaking parts if you go offroad, I've broken 9 diffs which included 2 complete axles and 1 CV joint and a new turbo plus other electrical items due to glowing manifold and down pipe.
Having a larger intercooler only seemed to improve things at high speeds when there was enough air flowing through the engine bay to cool it down!
So be carefull;)

I read an article which said that plug in modules are slower to react than a download to the ECU. Any comments?
I didnt get on with a plug in module due the momentary delay involved ;)
