Anyone else out there madly in love with the latest creation from those nutters in Japan?

I got the game 3 days ago and I can't stop playing it (i'm the type who finishes 100% of the game and HAS to get gold licenses etc - those who play will understand).

Looking orward to hearing from the fans out there.

I have attached a list of the cars which can be won in the game, but it is the US list so some names are different. Enjoy.

Don't know about you guys but I find it more satisfying taking a less powerfull car like the Ginetta on a long track like the Nurburgring. After about 10 laps of that, I was four wheel drifting like a guddun and passing much more powerful cars on the outside of bends.

Its quite interesting racing a massive tuned Dodge Ram against smaller cars. Looks very odd in the replays.

only managed to finish 9.3% so far,... but I have 23 FULLY tuned cars,... including the GT40, E55, R32 Golf (the "tuner version") and many more. I really want the rangie but I have a bad feeling it's going to be a disappointment even after i tune it. Lets see if I'm as good as i think i am (i know i'm not:D )

Any reccommendations as to which sport truck to buy?,... i'm leaning towards the Ford Lightning since I've driven one in real life and it was pretty fast (faster than my friends RAM).

Storm

Well yesterday a friend advised me to get an M5 and tune the h*ll out of it (well I must be the lucky one because the b*astard spends all of it's time spinning it's wheels!)

What a waste of about 200,000 credits!!!

I knew I should have bought a SL65 or an F150 (need it for the truck races)

for the truck races buy the toyota thing it is faster than the rest as standard and tunes pretty well.

as for the supercar festival no idea we have won it but we were having a fairly major session on the beer at the time so i have no idea what car we used. ( I have about 6 suitable cars out of the 60 i own so far).

Current fav car is either the rear wheel drive imprezza touring car at 600+ bhp or the nissan 89 lm car at 1136bhp

My fav car has to be my tuned M3 CSL, yes i know BMW. but around norborgren(SP) its a great car to drive. My bro brought an SL65, and tuned it, what a rubbish thing, far to much power and no tracktion.

maybe we should set some genuien lap times around a track in the same car.

only an idea.

CLK Touring car - 7'05" around the Nurburgring

Beats the pants off a M3 CSL!!! Don't you have the M3 GTR Race Car?

I'm up to 197 cars and 4,500,000 credits (although total winnings is in the 12,000,000).

89.7% complete.

Anybody got a suggestion for a car to do the Ice Arena(hard) in?? My Scooby just doesn't match the Corolla WRC!!

81.1% complete (only), and 181 cars (again only), but the best car has to be the Formula gran turismo (mines a rip off of the B&H F1 car)

As for the ice arena, i'm not even bothered, i had a hard time on the easy level. I got a mate who can do it with his eyes closed so i'm goin got have him do mine for me (not sure what car he uses though)

Top tips for the ice arena:
Get a 4WD rally car with plenty of poke-RS220 or such like and set the gearing as high as it will go. Then set the 4WD to a 50/50 balance. You will spend most of the time in 1st gear but the higher gearing will stop most of the wheelspin and thus give a little more control. As you aproach the corner, flick the steering breifly the opposite way then back in the direction you want to go but feather the throttle as you do this. It takes a little practice to get the timing of the flick and the throttle position right, but get it right and you'll do a perfect "scandanavian flick" and go round the corner nicely sideways. This tecnique also works pretty well on something like the Tahiti Maze as well.

You should try this for real on a (private) gravel track in front wheel drive car, only you gun the engine as the back starts to come round-awsome fun! :D

An unlikely car to race in is the Buick Special. It has loads of go and handles brilliantly-much better that you'd expect. A bit of tuning and it will hit 250mph no probs.

Anyone tried racing the Volvo Estate yet?

sickest game ever, completed within a month, learnt the ring on a standard m3, lapped it in the m3 gtr at 6min something. fastest time round the ring is 5mins sometihng in the f1. struggled to go sub 10mins with RR sport.

we tuned an e type to 180mph

best car on the game is the suaber mercedes le mans car, tuned to over 1000bhp on my setup and 250mph plus easy......

Seeing as almost everyone on this thread seems to be a PS2 nut, perhaps you can help me out:

On the front of the slimline PS2 (PS2.5?), there are two USP points. If I was to plug a USB key into these, would I be able to save to this key or would I first need to some jiggery pockery with the settings?

It might be a way of posting pictures to back up lap time etc.

Reviving the topic again. I got GT4 finally about a month ago. Favourite car to use is none other than the Dodge Charger 440 R/T! Add in a rollcage and sports suspension and good tyres and it actually handles decently (although still horrible to get round corners to the british cars in the game). The engine is also tuned a bit and chucks out 700bhp now. :D

Now I'm hunting to find a British car with the Rover V8. So far I haven't found one, and was disappointed to find TVR use mostly straight six engines now.

Cerberus
13th Aug 2006, 20:23
Rich, keep an eye on the used car sections. occasionally a TVR V8 S or a Griffith will tip up.

Once you get either, tune them up but don't fit the racing exhaust. It gives them an irritating high pitched scream rather than a V8 rumble. Dead irritating on a long race.
Try turning the traction control and the oversteer control right off and go drifting!:D

Rich_P
13th Aug 2006, 23:48
Thanks. Shall keep a look out. What age group are we talking about? 1980s or early 1990s or late 1990s?
I don't use any of that traction control stuff except on real high performance vehicles such as the LeMans Mercedes-Benz. (did a 60 lap enduro race with that this evening! :) )

I also learnt about that exhaust thing too on the Dodge Charger, sounds much better with the standard exhaust. Also with how I drive it on the game (I use manual gears), I tend to keep the RPMs in the power band I want. Where as with the performance exhaust the power is right up at the top of the rpm range, a place that I'm only hitting on straights.

Rich_P
14th Aug 2006, 15:26
Found a neat way to have nice drifts and power slides with the Dodge Charger of mine (as it's got a rollcage it is understeer happy), turn the understeer control to max. :D
