Disco TD5 steering box

Steering box has been leaking fluid for a while had an exchange unit fitted, price for part £241.58 inc vat. + labour which included a service £158.33

It's a 2001 Disco i would have expected the steering box to last a lot longer, I looked at extended warranty but in the small print steering is not covered. :(

I had a defender once, went though 3 steering boxes in a year. Normally is was a small rubber O ring causing the problems!

As it happens I have the exact same problem...just been looking in the parts book as well. According to the book there is a 'kit, steering box sector shaft seal.'
I presume this is the bit that leaks. However there are two part numbers dependant on chassis number (isn't there always) but the chassis numbers are the same so I am a tad confused.
Part numbers are STC875 and STC889 so I suppose I will have to pop down to my local dealer and have a look at their books :)

ps. Googled for the two part numbers. Nothing for 875 but lots of hits for 889 and only $30 as well......

pps Mine is a 92 Disco so you may have different bits.
