Hi
My 300tdi disco's clutch has gone from bad to badder in as much as it's getting difficult to engage 1st & reverse from standing. I'm certain that it is clutch drag as selection when engine off or transfer neutral is fine.

Is there any way of increasing the disengagement of the clutch. I've bled it and it is air free.??

Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers in advance

I don't think so. In theory I guess a larger diameter master cylinder, or a smaller diameter slave could give you more clearance, but you'ld need to know your way around the parts bins for this approach to work!

I think a fairly common problem with the 200tdi was a weak clutch operating arm - maybe the 300tdi shares the same unit. Mine broke, and I replaced all the hydraulics before I worked out what had happened. If your hydraulics are ok it's possible your operating arm is weak and starting to bend  .

I should get some expert advice before it leaves you stranded!

Good luck

Seen something similar in a SIII. This was the clutch master cylinder leaking. When the pedal was pressed some of the fluid leaked around the piston so the piston did not travel the full distance and hence the clutch did not disengage all the way. If the clutch was held down the vehicle then started to creep forwards as the piston leaked fluid and hence engaged the clutch!

If you have lots of mileage or lots of clutch usage a master cylinder repair kit is probably what you need....won't do any harm anyway and you can check the operating arm at the same time.

Your symptoms do sound just like those I had when the clutch master cylinder went on my 110 td5 ;) if you rub the clutch pedal arm do you get a dry very slightly oilly residue on your hands :D lol, what does that sound like, anyway, clutch fluid makes your skin feel dry.. it could still be the master cylinder tho even if your not getting fluid down the pedal linkages

If you 'rub the clutch pedal arm' enough does it get longer and work the clutch properly
