I was wondering if anyone out there would like to recommend a snorkel for the Disco II. I know there are a few out there and would be curious if anyone has fitted one to their car...how it works, install comments, etc. I'm thinking about the ARB model...thanks!

The choice of snorkel is really down to personal preference IMHO. They all do the same job, but look different.
I've got a Safari on my TD5 and would wholeheartedly recommend them as a choice. Having seen the different variations fitted to various cars it was the one that I thought looked the best.
Installing tricks. Make sure you've got all the tools and bits that you need before you start. Measure, mark, then measure and mark again. The last thing you want to do is start drilling and cutting holes in the wrong place
And don't forget to block the drain hole in the botton of the air box when you're done, otherwise you'll just suck water up in there (guess how I know :( ) and ruin your filter.
Other than that it's a fairly straight forward job.

I have the safari as well and very happy with it, survived a lot of abise and deep water an looks so much better than the B&Q lookalike Mantec
Not only the drain hole but the 30 or so other small holes in the airbox need sealing and dont forget to raise the 4 breather hoses
Mark Casey at Discoparts also has a safari and when he rolled his D2 the Safari survived without hardly a scratch (shame about the rest of the car)

I have just ordered an ARB snorkel so I will let you know when its on.
Which and where are the breather pipes that need raising?
I went through a very wet mud pool on Sunday at Briercliffe and the inner wheel arch ripped off and my air filter was flooded. Luckily no damage but if that arch comes away, the filter box fills up very quickly.

Front and rear axles and the two from the gearbox.transfer box
The front axle is already up into engine bay at bulkhead rear Left side, The rear diff is far too low and just under body near rear axle
The gear and transfer boxes are already hosed, look down the drivers side on the engine, past the Radiator overflow box and you will see 2 U bend black hoses, just extend these
I used Washer fluid hose and Inline connectors from halfrds and run all the hoses into one and run that up outside or snorkel. Shield the end and turn it down. I originally stuck the end inside the snorkel, but it sucked enough to draw oil up the hoses!!!
No Wading plugs on Disco TD5 and mine has been deep wading many times now and doesnt seem to have suffered
PS seal the door seals with some DH tape over the slots that have been cut

I fitted the Safari snorkel and it works well provided you are careful with ensuring you seal all joints with silicone but beware... see thread "Drowned Disco 2 TD5"
