SINCE LAST WEEK, WHEN THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED, THE ALARM TRIPS ERRATICALLY, DRIVING US AND THE NEIGHBOURHOOD COOKOO!!
ANY IDEAS??
COULD IT POSSIBLY BE DUE TO WRONG BATTERY DISCONNECTION/ RECONNECTION?
   CAN THE ALARM SYSTEM BE RESET? IS THERE ANY WAYTO SEE WHICH IS THE CAUSE: PERIMETRIC OR VOLUME SENSORS?
MANY THANX

My mate had a similar issue - alarm would go off in the middle of the night for no reason. Turned out to e big moth that had taken up home in the Disco!

Don't know if it's the same on a Disco, but on my 90 it was possible to set just the door/bonnet alarm without setting the motion sensor thingy ... I think it was so you could leave the sunroof open and a moth wouldn't fly in and set it off! That way you could perhaps test which one is triggering.
Trouble is, I can't remember how to do it ... twas in the handbook ... :dunno:

not sure about older discos, but on series 2 if you lock the door with the key you dont activate the interior sensors, so you can leave a pet or whatever in tehre ;)

If the alarm has only started acting up after the alternator was replaced then maybe you have a lose connection. A lot of alarms use a voltage drop to trip them, a lose connection would cause a voltage drop.
I would check the alternator as well as battery connections to ensure they are clean and tight.
