After buying new keys for an exhorbitant price, see earlier thread, I now find that sometimes I can't turn the key in the ignition lock. I either have to take the key out and turn it round or else fiddle around locking / unlocking the vehicle several times. Is it that the key is faulty or is there an inhibit on allowing the key to turn for some reason? Any ideas please

My keys are quite worn, as is the lock, but its still a little stiff and needs a wiggle to get in sometimes, I bet it was more apparent when newer

Hi,
I'm into windsurfing, so when I'm out on the water I can't take my truck key with me as the electronics would get damaged by the sea water.
I've just had myself a 'Dumb' key cut for the bargain price of £4.99 from my local locksmith. This means I can lock the truck up on the beach whilst out on the water. This dumb key opens the doors (via the keyhole) with no problems at all, so I'd guess your problems are just down to the key needing to ware in.
I've never actually tried this key to see if it would actually start the truck, but I'll give it a go tonight and let you know.
Cheers,

Digiman,
I know you've just spent £150 on a spare key from LR, but I've tried my £4.99 key tonight and it actually starts the truck. I couldn't believe it  . So the problems you are having must just be down to the key itself.
So here's a tip. If anyone else needs a spare key for their DII truck, just pop down to your local locksmith and get a standard key cut.
According to the LR manual, if you use the key in the door to lock the truck the immobiliser is not armed, but at £4.99 it's a cheap way to get an emergency spare.
Sorry this tip came to late for you Digiman, but it might save others the same expense.
Cheers,
