Soon to pick up my mint 97 disco (apart from the airbag problem) its an ES with all the trimmings, but I don't want or like the running boards, how easy are they to remove????
Also what are good allround tyres to buy as they will need replacing soon for the MOT....
I'm only paying 5K for the car so I am not going to complain about tyres....

Foot Plates? Reminds me of......
under bridges, over bridges
to our destination,
Riding on the foot plate
there and back again.
Those who can name the program.....you have my sypathy (I can whistle the tune, oh the shame).
As to the question...don't they just bolt on?

Hyjacking the thread slightly :p but.....
Under bridges
over bridges
to our destination
Life flys by when you're the driver of a train
and you ride on the foot plate
there and back again.
Camberwick Green was it not......Lord erm Something, used to drive a steam train and his butler was the fireman.
Ivor had trouble with dragons in his firebox ...... my dragons are else where, but that's another story children.
Back to the thread now.....checked the catalog and side steps do just bolt onto the chassis so there should be no trouble unbolting them.

BFG AT/KO err, if your standard height etc, then either 235/70 r16 or 245/70 16 which are slightly wider and taller but a spot on fit, no rubing and leaves my speedo very accurate ;)

.
If you get rid of the side steps it would be advisable to get some heavy duty rock sliders fitted. At the moment the side steps will protect your sills if you venture offroad.

If you want to save some money then Colway 235/70/16s are good, the ATs give good grip on and off road and are less than £50 each fitted from ATS Euromaster.
They don't give the same mileage as BFGs but are less than half the price.
I used to have side steps and they do give some protection but are easily knocked into a position where they foul the rear wheel or the ground, cut them off before they fall off.

Have to agree with the above. I have, sorry had, nice plastic coated steps on my Durango. They are now bent and scaped but my wife is not tall and they help her climb in so they must stay. All this when most of our off roading is sand or small rocks as well.
