Can anyone recommend a sat nav system? I have seen one at Costco at £299.00 - NAVMAN 630 (over £700 on internet).
My requirements are.,
Route finding, ie type in your destination, ideally by touch screen on an OS map and it takes you there by voice commands.
I would like it to be portable, ie own battery onboard as well as cigar plug for car.
Track and store routes, ie for green lanes.
I cannot find out if the above unit does all of these but I dont think it is portable, ie it runs off 12v or 240v.
Any advise or recommendations would be appreciated. What do you use?

I use a Grmin Streetpilot 3 - and find it really good. Slow to input perhaps, but I like it. If the road name/number isn't recognised, you can point to it on the map and take you ther - use this alot (sometimes quicker than typing/finding route.
Superb for movin gbetween vehicles, and is indistructable - I know, I've tried!
There is an updated range of the 'Tomtom Go' due to be released soon which includes 3 models.......The top of the range model has a built in 2GB hard drive that has every address in Europe on it......also built in bluetooth so use it as your mobile phone while in the car. Prices range from (I think!) £350 to £550 ish.

I've just purchased an IPAQ 4700 PDA with a tom tom wired car kit. The IPAQ comes has a 624mhz processsor with 192 meg ram, a 4 inch high res screen and I've fitted a 1 gig memory card.:) The sat nav works very well and routes are calculated in less than ten seconds. I've downloaded a speed camera database which gives on screen and audible warnings. It's proving a very powerfull PDA too. I've gone for the wired kit so I can still access email via bluetooth with the mobile.
Total kit was around £500.
For info the standard sat nav (becker system) is very slow to calculate routes and re-route. It gives poor information on lane changes and the display is unclear.
