hi, iv viewed the auctions on ebay for ages now but don't actually know how it works

I am thinkin of possible selling some tyres on there, just don't no how to go about it.
I have a paypal account, do i then need o register with ebay.

How does it work, do they take a percentage or is it a private sort of sale at the end?

any info much appreciated

Right, you need to sign up with ebay, this is only available to over 18's tho.

When you start an auction you select the category you want to sell in, then put in a description, pictures etc. Each feature you choose has a price, for example "Buy it Now" is 6p per listing (but only avail to certain members!), the first picture is free, others are 12p each etc etc. Different categories and different starting prices have varying costs, from about 5p upto several quid to list the item.

Then people bid and buy (hopefully).

Ebay make their money from the listing fee (usually less than £1 or £2 for a basic auction) and then they take a small percentage at the end of the auction, fees are all listed on the ebay website.

Insertion Fees (http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/insertion-fee.html)
Final Value Fees (http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/fvf.html)

Paypal although owned by eBay has seperate fees, if you are lucky then you get charged NOTHING, but there are strict £££ limits on such accounts and you can only take certain types of payments to your account (no Debit or Credit cards), on a premier account which is unlimited there are percentage fees on all transactions.

Ebay is like sex. At first you think you know how it works and what goes on, but you're nervous and unsure still. The first time can be a bit awkward and not sure what is about to happen, then you make your first sale/purchase, get positive feedback and it feels real goooood. You wonder what all the fuss and hype was about, then you just get better and better at it.

Then you get married and you don't get to do it so often, or am I getting confused with sex again????????
