Is it ok for shiny trucks to have a go without getting damaged?
how did the first weekend go?
wishing you all the best as its good to see scotland getting something :D

have many other questions but tis a bit early right now :D

The weekend went well 90% of visitors I had never met before ..(a good sign) I was suprised at the many LWB double cabs that appeared ...L200,Ford Rangers ..ect

The site can provide terrain to suit all 4x4s ....and the novice driver....we have a number of special challenging areas to suit the more experienced..

However I can not say that the course is completley non-damageing ..that would be stupid .....I have designed it to cause as little or no damage to 4x4s....But i cant be responsible for the way the 4x4 is driven ........

We have had Disco 3s new Rangeys and a group of P38s....and several Freelanders ....and they all had a great time ..the most never having used low box ....

Jamesetta - any reason you don't mention the cost of a day's playing on the web site? Or did I not look hard enough???

Looks like a good site. Pitty we're over 3 hours away (used to live near Perth which would have been much better), although we've family in Aberdeenshire, so may visit you next time we're up there (and try to get them to bring their RAV4 along too!!!).

Have you let the Scottish Off Road Club know you've opened? PM me if you want contact details for them.

Good luck with the site.
Cheers.

Rod,

I think I saw you last week at the junc of Union St / Union Terrace. Can't be many LR's around like yours. I was in my 300 Disco, waiting to turn right from Union Tce onto Union St: Full length roof rack with spots along the top.

Anyway. I will be heading down after dropping my oldest lad off at Makro for his work, starting at 10am. If anyone is travelling down from Aberdeen, anyone interested in meeting at Makro's car park?

Yup, headed up to Aberdeen today. 60 minute delay on Forth Bridge, so diverted by Kincardine (only adds about 20 mins to journey time).

Aiming to be at Nor-Trac at around 10am.

Well, what can I say, except FANTASTIC! A truly cool day was had by my two kids & myself. EXCELLENT site indeed. Portaloo (so no hiding behind the bushes, burger van, brilliant scenery, brilliant courses for first timers, seasoned off roaders & the gung ho experts. I think there was only 2 or 3 places I feared to take my Disco for risk of losing my front spoiler.

Was a pleasure to meet Rod, Steve (Jamesetta), Ye110w and plenty others not on this forum.

An off road site like this is long overdue in the North East of Scotland and I'm pleased to say, the organisers have exceeded. WELL DONE Steve, Katy & Crew.

I am no David Bailey, but here are a few pics from my camera:

Cheers for now

RallyDisco has pretty much summed it up. We too had a great day out, well worth the long journey North to the site.

The site is well laid out and organised. Very friendly welcome from Steve, Katy, Jarrad and Rod. And a superb bacon roll from the burger van at lunchtime!

Tracks to suit all tastes, and several bomb holes for the "brave" (which we avoided because of our long wheelbase!).

Already arranging the babysitters for our next visit!

RallyDisco's pics are great. Haven't had a chance to download mine for the camera yet, but will post them as soon as I do.

Great to meet everone, and looking forward to the next visit.

Cheers,
Ross and Jane.

Hi Hubber

Well in answer to all the questions, the Glentarkie mob proposed a visit to Nor-Trak on Sunday last and off we duly went (SWMBO, meself and an Oz rellie) to combine this with umpteen other things in the far flung north.
Outcome below:-

Well - astounding.
We were the only Glentarkie-ites there!!
Turned up at Stracathro at just about 9.20 expecting to see loads of MoM motors and NOTHING!!
Hum ho.

Bacon, eggs and many other cups of tea later we set off to Nor-Trak.
Now, you got to bear in mind we had a visitor (an Australian this time) so it was three in a 90 and we had promised the Ozzite that we would go see rellies in Stonehaven at some point so it was always going to be a short day for us.
The site - finding it was OK - when the navigator put her goggles on.
Location - seriously picturesque overlooking the water and all - well located - 9 out of 10.
Signposting was not that brilliant but it's early days for them - 6 out of 10.
Introduction to the site - 9 out of 10 - they made sure you understood the rules and were your own worst enemy out there. Congrats on sorting that bit out guys. If you wanted they also offered a guided tour for first time round so you knew where you were going. Good idea given the route does get a trifle confused in one or two places.

Technical aspects of the course - given the size of the site - it's not huge - they had fitted in some very challenging sections / obstacles. The big mud hole at the bottom of the hill I got stuck in twice and gained some minor damage second time round for being a bit over aggressive trying to get out - serves me right. 7 out of 10 on technical. Ozzite thought that was a hoot. (basta*d). Didn't bust a half shaft like the Forfar chap though so I was lucky!!

Enjoyability - good - new site. No idea what was coming up, walked most of the tricky ones first (I recommend it) and still mucked them up but got away with it. Did better second and third time round.

Overall - a friendly bunch - keen to make sure you enjoyed yourselves - 9 out of 10; keen to make sure everyone was OK - they were regularly round the course checking - 8 out of 10; happy to lead you through a section ad show you the route if confused - nice one, 8 out of 10; keen to see you return but not pushy 8 out of 10; good facilities, 8 out of 10.

In short, well done guys and hope the venture prospers and we'll be back when next visiting in Stonehaven.
In total - arrived about 10.40, left about 13.45 - a good session and I would have preferred another hour or so round the site.

Go visit it and support them - we need more sites like this in Scotland.
And you'll enjoy yourself.

Cheers

Easy answer is - NO!!

Ever tried holding a 35mm camera when driving? :D

The Ozzite says he has some great shots of the back of my head and there was a chap with a very fancy looking digital thing took some shots and said he'd post a note up when he put them on the web.
Shall watch for them and let you know.

Wouldn't want you putting your old shockers on it either.
Only 2 wheel drive, no low box, no difflock, so not much use.
Can just about get up the path to nortrak anything else i need a tow.

I've put together a little web site from with pictures from the 12th.
Very likey to get changed from time to time.

Please check it out and let me know what you think.
