Only problem was that when I got about half way along the lane I came accross a gate with a white sheet of paper on it telling me that it was closed till july... oops! oh well i suppose that if they had put it on the entrance gate it wud have ruined my day :(

Looks like a really nice little run over there and the half I managed to do was ace! Not challenging at all, nice little stroll up the hills for her - she's not done any proper exercise since last year :)

Looks really good. I wonder if I could tempt the Mrs to take the Jimny on that one!
Numbers 8 & 9 appear not to be working by the way...

it's closed until july i think. you can go as far as i went but i dont think you are supposed to!! not sure if a jimny will be able to go as far as i grounded morag once. it's quite rutted in places. well there seems to be 2 routes, a hard route and a grassy route... needless to say which i chose ;)

Looks good, but on 'Multi-Map' the eastern section is marked as a bridleway, presumably it's a BOAT/RUPP
That's if I've got the right lane (passing Stockdale Farm)

BOAT??

RUPP??

there is a bridleway that runs from 640878 south east, but also a lane that runs east from that gridpoint.

the lane runs about 200m north of stockdale farm. will be doing this one fully when it reopens! will do it with anyone here if we arrange a date.

This lane has a TTRO on it untill Aug 05 and so you are breaking the law to be on this lane at all. From Stockdale Farm the route is Bridleway and so has NO vehicular RoW. However an application to upgrade the whole route to a BOAT has been recieved by NYCC. Untill this is resolved please stay the hell away from this lane. There are plenty greenlaning clubs around where you can find up to date info regarding RoW. Please join one and don't go charging blindly around. Cheers.

BOAT?? RUPP??

Byway open to all traffic

Road used as a public path

You need to know these things in advance if you're going to be planning your own routes. Check with the RoW officer of your local land rover club - they'll steer you right.

Indeed you are right and fortunately I was not caught. I have informed NYCC and the National Park about the lack of a sign at the entrance to the lane and they inform me that they are aware of it and it is being rectified.

It seems that they have had a number of problems with dirt bikers being on the lane churning the place up and they do not blame 4x4 landrovers and such but they have TTRO'd it until August for all transport. And that includes for bicycles which I found rather strange.

As for greenlaning clubs around here... Where is the information? I've looked around on the internet and asked and no-one seems to be able to send me any relevent info for the North Yorkshire area around me... Plenty over near whitby but thats the other side of the country!Yorkshire is a big place as I'm sure you are aware!

A TRO is only valid IF it is adequately signed using official TRO signs, therefore James was in no danger of breaking the law nor any GLASS/LARA code of conduct by driving part of this lane, if he genuinely knew nothing about the TRO.
However now we all know so we have no excuse! Keep off it please. There are plenty more lanes nearby

I should add that driving the bridleway section is obviously illegal signed or not. I was refering to the vehicular section above

There is a lane near me Salter fell road that has a TRO last time i was up there no signs stating there is one. I have been in contact with them to point it out, the lane has been repaired motor cycles can use it.

have driven past today and there are 2 brand new signs on a board next to the gate. why they can't be put onto the gate i have no idea... but they are there now!

when it reopens in august i'll happily go back up there with some guys for an "adventure"
