Well the latest rumour I have heard is that Honda are favorites for buying MG.
Reason they are favorites are that the executives have visited longbridge and have requested the paintshop to be kept running. The administrators have done this... hmmm
They have stated that they would be interested in the MG brand only, as they would like to have a dedicated sports car range. (also I don't think they want to talk to BMW after what happened in 2000, so are not willing to discuss or pay for the Rover name)
Fingers crossed as I think that Honda owning MG would be a good thing

MG would be alot safer in the hands of the japanese right now than anyone else I think...
Besides, Japanese sports cars always are good minimum! :D

Actually, the engines were a bit hit and miss, as we had one 213 with a Honda engine and one with the A+ engine... Both were fine, though the Honda engine car was far more refined, simply as the engine was so better built. It seemed that both the Rover 200's and the Honda Ballards were made on the same rolling production line, and were badged last minute, allowing the companies to meet demand as required. I think it was a case of Honda not selling in the numbers that were built meaning they became Rover's at the end of the production line sometimes...
I personally would love Honda take MG over, but I think it may just be wishful thinking in the end.. can but dream...

I understand TVR's owner, Smolensky(sp?) has also expressed an interest.
I suppose they'd make the TF look reliable...

This is a strange one, as it is only regarding him personally rather than TVR as a company. He has made a bid to buy the TF production only, and also has made an approach to the Longbridge owners with a view of moving TVR to the Longbridge site from Blackpool if he wins the TF production. hmmm.... hopefully we will find out soon what the out come is, as I think today was the closing date for any bids..
