I am looking for a partner for a 6-9 month trip across Africa.
I am in the process of purchasing a Land Rover Series III SW Hard-Top, which I plan to complete by end of May. So far, 15th July 2002 is the departure date and would like to share the experience (and the costs) with somebody that might be thinking about the same type of adventure.
I don't have mechanical experience or experience driving a Land Rover in limit situations, so it would be ideal if interested parties could help on this one.
I am in the process of raising money for the trip, which I have budgeted in GBP15k for 2 people, including the vehicle, spares, fuel, visas, and food.
The route is flexible, so if you have any ideas, we can adapt my initial plan.
If you are interested, please drop me a line on <fdiez1@yahoo.com>
Don't miss on this adventure!

Raising money? Have hou got any sponsors for that trip?
this is NOT an easy one, allow at least 5 months to get all the visa, vaccinations etc.
In case you're interested: We got all the mechanical expireence and many many years of 4 WD experience under ANY condition, between Siberia and the Tropics, Sahara and Australia. And we know which magazines to write to and for in 5 languages.
But we have NO money.
So if you want us and you have got a sponsor, let me know.

Yes, I'm still trying to find partner/s and vehicle/s to join me in this trip later on this year. Too bad girl90 cannot make it this year. Annette, I didn't quite understand your offer in your previous message, can you please elaborate?
Thanks!

We live on 4WD and travel articles and a bit of translation work. So for us it ALL depends on money. Sorry, but this is our situation.
So for this summer we decided to got to Belarus (wanna come? I mean it!!)
because some magazines expressed a strong interest. My husband knows the country, speaks Russian well, I'm presently learning it and we are really good at Land Rover mechanics under adverse conditions. 6000 kms of muddy tracks are a challenge.
We usually start by looking into a possible trip/event and if we find enough magazines to buy the story, we pack our gear and load the Land Rover.
The Africa trip is something my husband has been considering for many years.
Maybe we are not romantic enough about it. We want a good story and good pics. Of course we actually like to drive a Land Rover through anything, we can communicate in many languages and we like that contact. This is what a story consists of.
Again, we would only do it if we know how to finance the trip and on the other hand it would be a dream come true. Think of it next year! That leaves us time enough to enquire into publishing possibilities.
