If you could change something during your lifetime, what would it be.

You only get one chance.

it could be something like saving JFK or something personal to you.

my career choices :D Turned down a position with the RAF as a 'copter techie, muppet. Later in life turned down a £40k a year job at reed publishing, god knows why as I was contracting there at the time and liked it

I would have bought a couple of houses to either sell on or let before they sky rocketed.

I shouldn't have left my roots and the path my parents have paved for me and become a classical musician instead of a sailor.

(I admit being sentimental over this comes with age, at the time I considered it as my only choice leaving home.)

I probably would have emigrated when I was younger! Now too old but may retire to the sun!

What would I change .... i dont really know. I dont read newspapers, i dont really watch the news, i dont really care much about what happens in the world. If it does not really affect my world and those around my world then i dont really care too much.

Mark,
Where are you getting all these philosiphical questions from at this time of the day ...

I would have gone for a repayment mortgage. This super dooper endowment mortgage that was to have given us a huge lump sum now has a shortfall of £12,000

Been thinking about this one on and off all day ... I've always said 'Don't regret anything' because you can't change the past, and even if you took a 'wrong' decision there would have been good results as well as bad ... you are the sum total of al your experiences and all that ... :)

But, if there was one thing I could change ... we used to live in Spain, and moved back to the UK in 1986. I would like to go back to 1986 and NOT move back to the UK, as I think it has become a rubbish country to live in (see all the posts with people saying they want to emigrate :D )

But as I say, if we had done that, I would probably not now have the family, career etc that I do have, so out of bad there is always good ... :p

You've got one endowment policy. I've got five of 'em, I try not to think about the shortfall ... best thing would probably be, if I pop my clogs before the term then they will pay up the full whack ... :D

This is a question that always gives problems in the office but one thats always asked for, answers range from wishing i had taken a different job through to a lady this afternoon who told me she wished her miscarriage 25 years ago had not happened as her son would have been 25 :( and many many more sad stories. however we find it a great cleanser of the soul.

Bernie, Hubber, wise words.

I totally agree with that, meaning that I don't regret every step in my life or it must have been that I disappointed people like my parents or previous relations.
Hurting people is always a waste of time and energy but it sometimes takes half a lifetime to see it. At those particular moments there always were reasons to do so.
But then again, with this attitude when you're a youngster you will never conquer the world.
