I'm not sure for DISCO but I have something similar with wifes VOLVO 2.4 TDI watter went to engine space and burne with disel together (some whole in head of engine (whole is not good word - very tiny space in hade) but after few checking in mehanic work shop they find where water leek's to compresion space - !!! how they find way nowbody do not know but in any case answer if watter /coolant find the way strong engine just burn them together with disell and oil....all together.
But in any case do check good check out...., you can easy come in overheating zone and that will  cost's you

Bum, a compression test from the garage will tell you if the head gasket is going, cos compression will be down on one or more cylinders. Check all the jubilee clip hose joints for mist or weeping. Top it up and see what happens, may have just beenescaping somewhere cos it was hot in its winter jacket? How was the needle on the motorway? Any loss of power or white smoke?

A rangie I had used to blow all the water out of the release on the coolent lid.
It never had white smoke and never overheated until all the water had gone. The gases were blowning though a very small scrape on the engine block and pressurising it so it blew all the coolent out. took a while to figure out what was happening. hope you've not got this as its hard to scim an engine block in fact I don't think you can...

My defender 300tdi is also losing coolant. Its still pulling well, no mess on the dipstick. When i start up there is slightly more greyish smoke than normal.
Garage had it last week, did a pressure test and checked for exhaust gas in the coolant (none found).
