Who's going to be the first one to correctly identify this one then?

Whatever it is, it's really really ugly..:D
Could it be that Dodge lookalike prototype that I saw featured in a LR mag some time ago. and now resides in the Dusfold collection? The one that was passed over in favour of Wolf?

Well it is certainly a better Land Rover than waht ever Ford will do to them.
Where did you see it?
Salón Internacional del Automóvil de Madrid?
We are trying very hard to get one for a test drive as soon as possible.
Ten out of ten Annette. It is the military prototype Anibal/Hannibal PS 10. I got to play with it on the Long Valley military test track on Wednesday at Defence Vehicle Dynamics 2002. The white PS10 Station Wagon and Fire Tender demonstrators were there too.

Has it got folding Doortops? It looks like they do in that picture. I want some.

Yes, it has. Don't know how long the rubber will make it, but thatis what we always dreamt of!

I wonder if the Santana will take-over the Defender as a serious off-roader if Land Rover turn it into a big ****-mobile. Does the Santana have the bash-ability Land Rover used to have, or is it turning soft too?
Jon,
On the military prototype the door frames fold outwards and the window panels are clear flexible plastic which unzip along lead, top and rear edges. This design is practical for many Mediterranean and African markets, but from what I saw on Wednesday, it is not ideal for northern European climates. However, it must be borne in mind that this vehicle is a prototype and many changes and specification alterations will be made before it goes into full production, which will only happen if a government orders sufficient quantities.
I will be giving my considered verdict in the August issue of LRM which is out on Friday 5th July. Unfortunately, the vehicles did not arrive in the UK until Friday 24th May, which was too late for me to photograph them for the July issue, which closed for press that day.

Cheers Bob, very interesting. I am temped to have a go at making my own foldable top now.

If anyone is interested, here is a short article about the features of the Santana Anibal, which my husband translated last week.
Comments welcome

We will certainly test that modern 109 soon.
Spent a couple of hours driving, mostly off-road, in the pre-production Station Wagon this afternoon. Interesting vehicle, and I love the engine & gearbox combination. Story will follow in LRM.

When will we find your story?
We were just told we have to wait till July before we get a go, but then we are not in the UK.
How is the suspension? Still the santana parabolic feel?
Annette,
Story will be in August LRM (out on 5th July). The three demonstrators were here for less than a fortnight, and the Station Wagon was only free from commercial/display commitments for a couple of days, so I was lucky to get a chance to play with them.
Don't want to give too much away at the moment, as my scribblings and snaps in magazines are what pay the rent, but I will say that I definitely see a lot of potential in the vehicle. Although it looks like a Land Rover, it is actually significantly different and a very interesting concept. And yes, the springs are parrot bollox, though the set-up on them is not quite the same as those on the production series will be, and there is significant difference between the military spec prototype and the Station Wagon pre-production vehicle.
