Right folks, ive found my undercarpet matting and my carpet wet on a few occasions, and the floor is starting to show signs of surface rust round the floor joints coz I have a leak. I'm gonna go strip it down and do the hose test, but before I do, I was wondering if a leak in the back of discos is a common ocurance, if so, where is it? I suspect the little quarter light windows on the sides of the roof as the rubbers look well perished. It's a 200tdi on a 93 plate. Basic model, has no sunroof or roofs, just those little quarter light windows, and its a 3 door..........anyone??

Hi,
It is probably the alpine lights, if the rubber is split on the top corners then that is certainly part of the problem. There is apparently another cause which is a piece of sticky foil that is used to cover a hole in the gutter where two panels join together. I also have a '93 plate and my leak was cured by replacing the alpine light rubbers, you can use sealer for a more messy, temporary soloution.
The best way with sealer is to remove the filler strip, this runs through the centre of the seal all the way round, then get the end of the nozzel in and pump it full. Putting the filler strip back is a bit of a pig job unless you go to Machine Mart and buy the correct tool, this of course you'll never use again.
If you choose to replace the seals they are about £25 a side, don't forget to order the new filler strip as it is a seperate part at about £2 each.
