engine number

anyone know where the engine number is on a 300 tdi?
been looking all day and cant see it anywhere and i realy need to know it.
is it stamped on the block or on a tag rivited on?

According to the book:

"The 300 Tdi engine number is stamped on the cylinder block on the right hand side of the engine above the camshaft front cover plate"
