I've posted this in another Rover forum but I'll give it a spin here..
I have a 97 Series 1 Discovery...about 118K miles. By all accounts the truck is in good shape and maintained. Last fall I began to have a tranny shifting problem. When cold...I can start the truck and drive away and the tranny works just fine. If I shut the truck off while the trans is hot and start her back up...the trans hangs in 3rd and will not upshift into over drive. If I roll into neutral and give a couple revs then slide back into drive while moving...she will drop into OD. When I let up on the accellerator though, the trans will downshift abruptly into 3rd and early abrupt downshift into second as I slow down.
The wierd part is, it only does this when hot...I can drive 60-70 miles with little or no issues as long as I dont turn the truck off.

I was told there is a primary fluid pump in the trans that may not be pressurizing properly?? I would think if the clutch packs were gone...it would slip....and moreso when cold... which it does not do

Anyone with ideas...something simple I may use as a strting point>? Adjustment...vacuum lines??

thanks!
