I was heading into Wakefield today along the main aterial road from the south-east (A638) & saw a strange vehicle at the opposing side of the road.

Now, as labelled, I believe it to be a Carlton Commander.
I believe Dutton produced a similar vehicle, but both were Escort (or Cortina) based I think.

This one was definately 4x4, it had a driven front axle.
Sorry didn't really notice if it was on leafs or coils.



Apologies for the lack of a frontal shot, but traffic conditions dictated I could only stop where I did.

It does have very 'dutton-like' lines doesn't it ? you can clearly see the diff on the front axle, confirming it's 4wd too.

Looks a bit of a home brew the way the panel work is so primitive.Less craftmanship than the mudguards on a series 1!:p
