Hi,
Some pics from the set up weekend for the SORC Forest Drive. Some really good tracks. Even the drive around the forests on the forestry roads was good.
Pics of me in the green90 and Mrs Ye110w in Ye110w!

Some of the SORC guys try out one of the harder red runs.

And a Zuk on what turned out to be a black. These ones don't do justice to the difficulty. Start and finish were very steep, and we ended up needing to wich the Zuk off the tree stumps.

I was down at the site on Sunday setting up some of the routes.
The routes are quite varied, with the well graded roads forming the "Green" routes for novices with a handful of very mild off road forays for the adventurous novices (still intended to be non-damaging). Some of the "Green" routes may need to be upgraded to "Red" if the conditions deteriorate as traction will be limited if it gets wet for example.
"Red" routes are more serious, with excursions into the surrounding tree areas that will be challenging and rewarding. Most of these form loops so they can be repeated if you wish.
"Blacks" are definately more challenging yet and we expect some sections will only able to be completed with a lot of winch work If you attempt a "Black", you'd better be prepared to be worked quite hard. As Sandy said, some of these start off very easily, then after lulling you into a false sense, have a sting in the tail that will push you.
Just a reminder, if you are interested and haven't sent in your entry, get a move on as we expect a lot of local entries to be in at the begining of the month and you'd hate it if your "place" went to someone with a Rav4 or a Santa Fe
