Need some help...our Disco '97 is sort-of jerking (as if I took my foot off of the gas pedal), at irregular intervals.

Yesterday, when driving about 75 mph, the car seemed to be mis-firing, or the fuel line was temporarily blocked, or a cylinder was sticking...really have no idea what the problem is....also, had the same problem when trying to accellerate from a complete stop (almost did not get accross the road with on-coming traffic)

My original thought was that we bought some bad gas and that the fuel injectors were clogging...so, I put in STP and have now run through 3/4 of a tank...still, the problem will happen. Went about 60 miles, happen again .... 2 jerks.

Similar problem happended about 8,000 miles ago...changed the sparkplugs...everything seemed to be OK. NOW, it is happening again. ANY IDEAS PLEASE?

Check cap and rotor. I had the same problem with my Discovery and found it to be a small plastic part in the distributer which kept throwing off the timing. No servicable part but had it epoxied no problems now. But my guess will be the rotor and cap.

Thank you for your reply...it turned out to be a Speed Transducer! And, while driving away from the dealer, the new Speed Transducer failed!!! However, they kindly replaced it within an hour...seems that the Rover is fine now (drived about 500 miles since the repair).:)
