Just a quick post about a little job that, for once, went as planned and without any hickups :D Well, almost ;)
Read somewhere (User Manual?) that the oil pressure warning light should be on with the engine off and the eletrics on, and realised that I've never seen sight of the little blighter! "******, better get it sorted" thought I.
Puzzle about, trying to figure out where the sender is ("must be on the oil filter somewhere?"), find it, whip off the lead and get the multimeter on it. Got a connection to ground (good sign) and 12 volts when the light should be on (yay!)
"Must be the sender": couple of quid from you-know-whos, next time a "big order" comes up, I tack it on the list.
Sender arrives, I go out there in the mild afternoon sun today (very nice), "potter potter, lets try hooking the new sender up to the lead and see if the light comes on." Bum. Nothing at all. Fiddle with bits of spare wire, making sure the new sender is grounded. Still nothing.
Drat. Pull dash apart, get bulb out, test that. Test wiring. Should all work :dunno1:
Try it all again, this time the light works. :bounce: Put it all back together, checking the light still works at every step. Bit of threadlocker on the new sender, screw it in, put the dash back and... Bingo! :D
Job's a good 'un -- feeling very pleased with myself  Now the dash looks like a traffic light with the red Charge light, amber Choke, and green Oil Press :D
:D :D :D
Wishing everyone the same level of (almost) painles jobs!
