Hi everyone,

I have just bought my first Land Rover - a 1968 109 Safari Station Wagon diesel.

I'm not sure what it's like as I haven't even picked it up from Exeter yet... so here's hoping it's not tooo bad. :) I have hopefully attached a picture of it to my profile which should show up next to this post with any luck.

I've been searching for lots of information on Google since I bought it and this site has kept appearing in the results with some excellent information, so I have decided to join!

I have lots of questions, but am trying to resist posting them all straight away and waiting until I have searched through here for answers first.

I think I am going to change the engine and would very much appreciate any advice anyone has to offer - but think that should go in the 'Series Land Rovers' section?

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Thanks everyone for your friendly welcome messages.

I believe the engine is the original 2.25 diesel, which I'm hoping to replace and have just posted a message under the 'Series Land Rovers' section - so any advice is very much appreciated!

Cheers.

Hi and thanks again for all the welcome messages - yes I bought it about a week ago and haven't even colected it yet, so I will let you know how it goes...

I'm going with a spare battery and tow rope just in case. I'm expecting some welding on the chassis but hopefully not too much else as it had the bulkhead replaced recently, so fingers crossed!

Exeter to Brighton, that's a fair run in a series, done it a few times :)

If you do end up towing it, make sure it's in two-wheel drive and both boxes are in neutral.
