Hi there. I got this off thier web site.

Seasons Greetings to all members – time to drain the system of alcohol and Christmas pudding and join us for the first outing of the New Year, which is a fun day Shandon. The cost is £15 per vehicle and members should meet at the main car park on the sea front at Helensburgh for 0930hrs. Any member unsure of this location should contact Colin on 01357 300447 or myself on 01324 483118

I will mail them just to make sure that non-members can come, but it wasn't a problem in the past. I went to Shandon once, as part of an RTV which is a bit different as you had to follow the set route, but a fun day is different. You can go anywhere you want.

for those that aint been to shandon - its a bit of a paint stripper. you'll get scratches.

i quite fancy taking the rangie if i can get the suspension finally modded so that the wheels dont rub - i've yet to decide if i;m going.

will see later on

non-members will probably have to pay £20 instead of the £15 for members . that way your encouraged to join the club. ( after 3 events in the year you'll save money )

Hiya Fisha why don't you come along on Sunday? Allan Picken is coming, and I think Alec with the 90 van will be there too, We are meeting at the Erskine Bridge. Im not bringing mine (going in grumpy's) unless I can get it fixed on time:sobbing: it was at the garage today getting new fan belt and the mechanic told me to bring it back tomorrow its needing a propshaft hardy splicer???? whatever it is ...it sounds expensive:dunno1:

Hardy Spicer = UJ.

Got this reply.

Hello Stephen,
as your name does not appear on the current membership list, I presume
you
are not a member yourself. Non-members will be welcome who have
intentions
of sampling offroading in their own vehicle(strictly 4x4, no bikes or
quads)
with the intention of joining the club if they find it satisfactory,
but
will be asked to pay a £5.00 premium on the £15.00 members' charge. All
participants must obey the rules of the club with regard to speed
limits(10mph max) and safe transportation of passengers. Vehicles must
be
fit for purpose, have secure recovery points and carry adequate
recovery
equipment (i.e. ropes or strops with a safe working load of 2tons or
better - the Halfords type tow-rope does not meet this standard.) We
will be
pleased to assist you in the choice of this equipment on the day.
Vehicles
must only be driven by fully licensed drivers and Indemnity Forms
completed.
There may also be additional restrictions placed by the owner of the
site,
which will be reinforced at the briefing before the funday starts.
You mention "group" of non-members in your e-mail, could you please
let me
know by reply how many vehicles and how many passengers you were
referring
to?

regards,
Andy Prentice

I'll send him a link to this thread.

Hiya Stephen, Gary's a member, Im not driving and Alec and Allan are joining on Sunday once they fill out the forms. See you there:p

I asked if the site was damaging, and gave him the link to this thread.

Hi Stephen,

I see where you are coming from now and we will be pleased to have you join us as long as we are not swamped by non-members, try to keep it to 10 vehicles or less. Our main fear is being infected by uncontrollable loonies (non-member uncontrollable loonies that is !) who can damage the reputation of the club by their inconsiderate actions, but I am sure you will be well behaved.

The meeting point is the main car park on the sea front in Helensburgh at 0930hrs prompt. You will sign on at this point before we proceed en-masse to the site. Look for chairman/Treasurer Colin MacNee in a white Daihatsu 4 Trak van.

The site is quite varied, with narrow lanes and overgrown in places, some gullies, big hillside and plenty of bogs but also a fair bit of non damaging play area.

regards,
Andy Prentice

I don't think anyone here is an uncontrolable looney, do you?:p

ahh stuff it - i think i'll go in the rangie....

not sure how it'll last up - it sometimes pops out of low-range - that'll be fun!!! :D :D

i reckon i'll be able to get the arches sorted by the weekend. I was out with the angle grinder last night - what a blast that was. Its gonna look good when finished.

i also really must speak to dennis - one of the previous owners of the rangie - i dont think i've found 2 panels that are off the same car so far on that thing.

i couldn't figure out why the door on one side looked different from the other. scraped the paint back and it was 2 different colours for each of the doors.....not to mention the bottom was 2 different shapes and methods of seals.

I'll be in Garelochhead on Sunday morning, so I would love to join in.
I'll bring the 110 which meets the SWAT requirements.
Once went up the hill at Stuckenduff in a 2a and got stuck for 2 hours.
