Audio problems on 300tdi ES

The control buttons on the dash for the radio/ cd player dont work as they Should do.

I.E
VOL up : dont work
VOL down : = vol up !
NEXT TRACK button = next cd
NEXT CD = next cd or sometimes track

The bloke in the local lr garage said he has seen one or two like this before but couldnt rerember what the 'simple' remidie was . i wasnt in any rush so didnt persue it . however if there is such a thing as a 'simple remidie' for a landrover dose anybody know it ??

IIRC the switches rely on resistance to decide the function that was pressed. I'm guessing that a good clean of the contacts will probably solve the problem.

thanks very much , a quick scrape of the contacts and a good squirt of WD40 seemed to do the trick , back to luxary again .

Excellent. I'd be a little wary of WD40 though. If they fail again it's worth using isoproponal (sp?) alcohol as WD40 gets you a sticky residue.
