Right in the corner of where the wheel arch meets the upright bit, now showing daylight beneath. How easy to fix/replace a rear wheel arch, or do I get someone who is good at welding to patch it up?.
In other words , what is the best way to resolve this ?.

If it's the lip that wraps into the wheel well, you could just cut it out. You wouldn't be able to tell a thing looking at it from the side. I have oxidation all along the back side of that lip from the wheel splashing mud and rock against it and was just going to cut that lip out as I was going to go up a tire size anyway. Save you some money and no one would be the wiser. If the oxidation has worked it's way to the front side where you can see it from the side then you won't be able to cut it out but you might be able to use patch/bondo compound and have it repaired relatively inexpensively.
