Not Another 'buying advice'! but V8i Discos

im currently looking for a 2nd 4x4 to cover low miles

rangie and discos are cheep in the v8 format (cos you get stung filling them up )

what point do i need to look for buying a 'G' plate V8i disco (3 dr)
advatised for £1150 with 12mts mot

am a newbe to this petrol stuff as my other disco is a dirty d

Bodywise just like any other Disco. Check the typical places for rust/oxidation. Look at the frame for signs of abuse.

On the V8 engine however, listen for ticks which could be signs of faulty rockers, valve issues or cracked exhaust manifolds (they sound different). Also check for rear main seal leaks and head gasket leaks.

Jimbo, are you looking for one to use off the tarmac ? I'm just about to sell mine, a 1991 J reg V8 5 door with LPG conversion. I'm in Cambs too, so convenient to have a look at least :) If you only want it for road use then mine's a bit over-specced, currently anyway .. if I don't sell it like this then I'll remove the steering guard and MT tyres and put it in Autotrader for a bit less money.
