Hi Guys and Girls
I have just fitted a QT diff guard and had to remove a strange dumbbell weight from the diff bell housing, does anyone know what it is and is it essential. It was attached under the damper mount. Cheers

YEah Discos have them, IIRC they are meant to stop the axle resonating or sommat like that! Many people have taken them off to fit diff guards and have had no side effects!

It's a torque reaction weight.

Would that fit the wife!

Bearing in mind how much time you guys are paddling around in water, its probably a sacrificial anode!
Roger.

Cheers, I have left the weight off and all seems Ok up to now. I suppose the diff guard anyway adds a bit of weight anyway.

I have done exactly the same as you... no problems, the RRC has the same axle as the disco and it has no weights !
