Hi, Just another quick question about how everyone carries there Hi-Lift on or in their disco. I have seen them mounted on the rear door on the spare but it looks a little vulnerable there. Has anyone got any other suggestions. thanks

Outside its vulnerable to rust, crap and theft. Inside you're vulnerable to it caving your head in!
In the rear of my 110 I use 2 antiluce's bolted with spreader plates (search google images or look at a landy pickup tailgate). The antiluces go through the jack pin holes and drop over, secured with clip or small padlock. They only cost about £1.50 from engineering/agricultural suppliers and come in different sizes.

Mine fits neatly in the boot at the base of the rear seat. With a load liner there's a little 'pocket' here which it secures into nicely, with a couple of spades and pair of waffles. Tilting one of the folding seats forwards makes it easy to get out too.

Not driving a Discovery I know... but I keep my jack stripped down. The handle and ladder bar are kept in the rear out of sight. The jaw/head kept in the tool locker. The base is attached to a spreader board and lives under a seat.
Takes up less awkward space, it is out of the sight of a causal thief as the ladder doesn't look like anything worth nicking (unless you know what a hi-lift jack is).
Takes less than 2 minutes to assemble. The delay in assembly itself help calm and reduce tension one might first be experiencing during the initial stages of an off-road recovery... i.e you have time to relax , take stock and thus less likely to make a dangerous mistake.

That's a good idea .. hadn't tried stripping mine, but might do sometime just to see. The point about time to relax and take stock is a good one too .. Thanks

Cheers Guys for the quick responses, a couple of good ideas there, I had also considered mounting it in the rear seat well, it gives enough legroom for the passengers however would prove a little tempting to the thieves as already mentioned i think.
