Firstly...hello.
I am new here.
I wish to pick the collective brains for an opinion.....

I have an 04 disco TD5

A very nice motor.

Noticed about 6 months ago it leans slightly to the driver's side (about an inch) when unladen and on level ground.

It doesn't seem to affect the handling or braking or steering etc etc.

Mentioned it on 1st service and they 'calibrated' the suspension (whatever that means)

I thought no more of it until a couple of days ago when I just happened to notice it still leans a little...unladen, level ground etc etc.
Other people have noticed it, it's not just me!

Took it to the main dealer/workshop, they measured the various wing heights etc and agreed that it seems to be 2cm lower on the front offside..... I was told.......

'It is a common issue, one which other people have experienced, it is built within the acceptable tolerances that Land Rover apply  If it is not affecting the steering/handling etc etc then it's not something we would feel the need to do anything about'

Does anyone else have a leaning Disco of this particular vintage?
Or is someone feeding me a load of old codswallop and expecting me to go away?

I would be interested to know, before I get the bit between my teeth and start writing letters and emails.

Cheers and thanks for taking the time to get this far in my essay!

My 05 Defender is the same [as was the 300tdi Defender before that] 1" lower on n/s/f.
Just the way they are unfortunetly.
I changed to uprated springs on my last Defender, that solved it.
Will do same to this one soon.

They always used to say that it was to counter the driver and fuel tanks weight, as mostly only one person in it. If I remember correctly, my old 2a had an extra leaf in the o/s springs.

it can be sorted if you calibrate it ,and cheat a bit . just a case of calibrating to what it looks like rather than what it is supposed to be , but your dealer may not want to do that ask them

Now you mention it ....... I'm going to get mine on some level ground and have a proper look - with a stick of inches. Welcome to the forum.

Roger.

Oh no...what have I done..........The sight of disco owners everywhere seeking flat ground:eek: armed with yardsticks.

I have tried parking mine the other way round on my driveway which slopes slightly...even with the opposite slope it steadfastly refuses to even out completely.
Reckon I'll just accept it as a quirk.

Cheers All.

Mine often seems to be slightly out too. I had put it down to the air suspension levelling. The other thing I have noticed is that if you look straight down each side of the disco, front to rear, the body appears to be fractionally offset to the offside. This became more apparent with the wider AT's fitted.
