I don't think he's bought one yet James. Because he said he is thinking of fitting a gas conversion. :)

Heres one thats been converted.... Photo 4x4 (http://www.photo4x4.co.uk/101.html)

That one belongs to Keith Hart, proprietor of Photo 4x4, and forum member. It runs really well, and sounds great.

I converted mine about 6 years ago and have not looked back. It's an ambi so I've slung the 120 litre tank fairly low but if you're on a GS you can put it anywhere.
I can send you lots of pictures of the conversion if you want and if you do it yourself the setting up can be a bit of a pain but not impossible as a DIY.

Had LPG on my old 101. the 80lts tank fitted between the wheels on the nearside. Painted NATO Black it was near invisible.

Got 6 - 15MPG from it and the only problem i had was when i re-newed the diaphrams in the carbs and fitted a dashpot 180 degrees out. on Petrol it ran fine but the LPG wouldn't lift the dashpot so it ran a bit odd for a few minutes till i realised what i'd done.

Ahh, i still miss the old girl.:(

Some insurance companies want a registered LPG installers certificate, some don't like Norwich Union, but I guess thye wouldn't know what a 101 is!

Most dont need the certificate, simple an engineers safety report from an LPGA approved garage.

A mate is converting the RRC for us then we're going to a local LPG place to get the report to send to the insurance company.

Did you ever have much problem on pulling away? I seem to have acquired a need to blip the throttle to get it pulling, almost as if there is a lack of fuel on take-up. I'm beginning to think it may be time for a bit of a clean up in the vaporiser as it's only had one in 46,000 kms.
