I bought a tomtom one on Friday and can't believe how good it is - the accuracy is astounding, as is the ease of use etc. Brilliant bit of kit. Pity it doesn't have green lanes in it.;)
The following link points to a page that you can legally download a free database of safety (aka speed) cameras for the UK.

I don't speed, and don't condone it, but this gives you advance warning of the fact that you are approaching an accident black spot, which has to be good.
On the tomtom it sounds a warning and flashes a symbol in the top left corner. It also works with other tomtom units such as the 300/500/700 and a load of other makes/models from other manufacturers.
This link is a quick guide to installing.

Gurkha, thanks for the link, I downloaded it and set the audible warning to sound like a sub diving, then drove past one of the local cameras to test it, jeez, did it make me jump:eek: , but it's amazing, it works a treat:)

Looks good TheGurkha,
Did you use the sd card that came with the unit to download on to, or did you use one with a bigger memory? [ I'm a complete numptie when it comes to computer type stuff]
Got a tomtom1 for Christmas, but only got it out of the box the other day and used it for the first time today.
I'm well impressed with it...but anything that works without loads of noise and clouds of smoke impresses me:D
Now I need you to find a free download of the Europe maps for my trip in July;)

Anyone know where, or if indeed it's possible to download the waypoints/co-ordinates of the cameras for non specific GPS units?

Try this link you can download the database and import it in to autoroute. I am pretty sure you can export autoroute maps to your garmin.

I just used the one that came with it. It doesn't take up much space.

A bloke at work has the same setup as you (tomtom on pda) - I'll ask him, because I know he figured it out. I'm not in work for a few days so answer might come next week.
