Hi
The head gasket has gone on my Mrs' W-reg FreeLander 1.8 (K series engine). I understand this is a common occurance.

So I've order up a new head gasket and head bolts and I'm looking to do it myself if poss. I ordered an 'uprated' head gasket from EliseParts.com

Anyway, I've got the cam belt cover off but I can't see the correct way to release the cam belt tension. It's difficult to get a good clear view of it.
Is there a "how-to" guide somewhere on this site? Or can somebody tell me how to slacken the cam belt?

Thanks for any help.

If it's has overheated, have the head skimmed. Change the thermostat, do that before you fit the head, as it is hard to get to.

Here are the Timing Belt sheets.
