View Full Version : My new 4x4, its a beast! Stereo/sat nav questions
Hi, this is my new truck, a 4.6 HSE :yellowgri
Its being imported from Japan, the head unit is the nuts but it'll be set to japanese stations, as well as the sat nav monitor thingy. Is there a way of getting round this?
The amp is in the spare wheel well, where the lpg tank needs to be!
Anyway what do you think?
btw is the treasure hunt still happening, a mobile off road pa would be cool :D

You could move to Japan, Sat Nav will be fine there:D

The only channel you'll be able to pick up on the radio will be BBC radio2. You can get a band expander which will help but the best solution is to change the radio for one from this country. Thats what I did on my Hilux Surf. Not sure about the Sat Nav????
Whoa.......that nakamichi setup is the dogs danglies......I would do whatever I could to get UK frequencies on that beaut before ever considering selling.....I have a 'cheap' Nakamichi in my merc which is just A1......no bling........just out and out sonic performance......keep it!

haha I spent hours taking the system apart cause the cd wouldnt work then realised the button on the amp was turned off, doh! sounds really, really good.
Cant do anything until the customs & excise forms etc come through (may!) then i've got to register it, still a while before its moving, very frustrating!
anyway gave her a wash (yeah i know its a land rover!), a pain with the hose pipe ban
what do ya think? :)
Very smart mate! Sorta makes up for it being a Range Rover !!;)

supose the SAT NAV has a poi for ENGLISH TAKE AWAY'S........DO TO IT WHAT I DID TO MINE..........
Frequency steps are different in Japan as well as the bandwidth which means you will always be off-station. Sure, the Nakamichi set up is fab, but youll need a set with a Euro tuner. Try the Nakamichi website, they may do and equivalent unit for UK/Euro which should minimise connector missmatch etc. As for satnav. Settings should allow language change, but you may need a set up disc. Also you will need a map disc designed to be read by the makers nav computer. Look for the mapping companys logo on the disc and contact them to enquire.
Usually Navteq or Teleatlas - 2 of the bigger firms.
Hope that helps.

cheers, the screen is an LCD Panasonic TR 7LC2 if that means anything. car has 2 remotes, a cable that comes out the dash and 2 aerials + white thing on the roof. Cant work it out at all.
Got the radio working with an expander from ebay.
ada- nice rangie, ordered the clear lenses already, looks much nicer with them on.
