I am new to this forum and my L-R is a '95 ES V8I Auto. (This follows a Series 11 and a Stage 1 V8)
To save my sanity could somebody tell me where the immobaliser is hiden. The wiring to this is playing up. The first sign being that only the off-side indicators flash when locking.
It seems that I need to add a laptop, voltmeter and soldering iron to my toolkit for this 'modern' Land-Rover!

You need to find the theft alarm unit,to the right of the passenger compartment fusebox under the steering wheel,( if its rhd ) This is what makes the hazards flash to indicate alarm/c/locking status. The factory immobilser unit,(smart spider) only inhibits the fuel pump, sparks and starter. That unit is behind the stereo ontop the heater box.
I suggest you get hold of the factory ETM,electrical troubleshooting manual.Cheapest way to do this is probably with a Rave CD from e-bay. The etm has all the info you need to sort this out.If you suspect the ecu,you can sub one over from an identical car,and using the donor cars fobs you can prove either way.Its not rocket science and apart from the smart spider which you can replace with a link,(p/n AMR4569 I think) it is a reliable system.

Thanks Jon, I have the Rave CD but could find no mention of the immobaliser hence my call for help. Is it referred to by another name? This link you can use to replace the 'smart spider' does this link terminals on the ecu and do away with the immobaliser functions (and potential faults)?

Yes,it just replaces the smart spider box and removes a possible cause of trouble.LR also sell an upgrade immobiliser kit, about £115+vat - only ever fiited one. Most people would rather their car was nicked than not go ! - Can sort of see their point.
