changing remote battery - advice needed

hi guys...
my remote battery is getting a little low and I want to change it before it goes and leaves me locked out.
Whats the routine for changing them and how do I ensure it is snyced with the disco 98 300tdi ?

im in hungary on the road to romania - so no easy access to a dealer if i have problems!!

When I did mine I simply left the car unlocked, changed battery and locked and unlocked the car. I'm not even sure I needed to leave it unlocked. I really can't remember any mystery to this.

once you have removed the battery, you need to press the button for a few seconds just to make sure there is no charge left in the remote or it could kill your new battery, i dont know why it just does
