You really should turn off the "caps lock"
Typing in CAPITAL letters is classed as SHOUTING on forums.
Anyhow
WELCOME to you. I hope you're a quick learner when it comes to all things mechanical.
Cheers,
Kevin

Stick my neck out and say that they're great viehicles bog standard. There's lots you can do, but the best is probably to get to know the vehicle first and see what you really need.

I did the "Wild Wales Weekend" (sorry that's a LROI thing) when I first got mine, it was as standard then, Discovery's are pretty capable off-road. A good set of AT or MT tyres will get you through most situations.
Once you start you won't be able to stop though, be warned.
I've just returned from my second trip to the Tunisian Sahara.

Hi ANDY and welcome to our world :D
I think the best thing to do is get to know your Disco first. See what are the strenghts and weaknesses for you driving style etc. I am still at this stage ;) .. Actually I got no money for the mods so thats a face saving thing to say (in my case).
I go gentle greenlaning with a standard Disco. All I did was invested in some good All terrain tyres to put my mind at rest.
Keep in touch and enjoy your stay.

Welcome Andy,
We are quite new to the Disco world as well, thougt we have had a Series III a Defender 90 and a Suzuki SJ in the past.
The best advice for green laning, as said before is a set of good tyres. Next I would say some underbody protection, then either uprate the springs and shocks or go for a lift......All depends on how extreme the lanes are around you!!

Welcome Andy, I like you are new to 4x4 having bought a disco in November.
For what its worth Ive gone for diff gaurds first, mainly because I done the wayfarers last sunday and although it an easy route there where still a couple of places where I could have knocked my diffs. Next are probs going to be a set of all terain tyres, Greenway Machos look like a good buy. Just waiting for my standard road tyres to ware out a bit more. Oh forgot! 1st thing was actually 2 wading plugs, £3 of ebay. ... Jon ...

Hi and welcome...
I think you will find that your "bog standard" disco is more capable off-road than you ever imagined.
I echo the thoughts in this thread...
get some all/mud terrains and underbody protection.

disco`s are quiet capable off-road,mines a 91(h) and only thing i done before hand was a set of big chunky tyres and remolds at that hehe,oh i would suggest that u check that the tranfer box is working (wee gear stick in front of big one lol)

Andy
Got my disco in Aug last year and it is true what they say they do get addictive. I went first for tyres and underbody protection. Then jackable sills for the hi-lift jack. I haven't used the jack in the mud yet but the sills have been well used when i went down a byway which was ok for 7 km but like a rabbit hole for the last Km(i now know the capabilaties of the disco). Now got a front SR bumper as the original is just too plyable. probably not much help but do be awar of the Bug.
