Rear light guards

The rear light guards which I bought my Disco with are looking a bit tatty. They have steel guards which are secured with a screw on the inside and slot into a rubber thingy on the outside, looking vaguely hingelike. The rubber bits are coming loose (from the look of them not for the first time), making the whole affair untidy and loose.

Does anyone have a suggestion of how to stick them back on to the body. Do they need replacement/modification?
