... for storage capacity.
In the beginning I went to a party out in Wales of which I was meeting up with friends from my Photography club. Whilst there I was introduced to certain, erm, factors that encouraged me to pop into Telford nearby and get a 300gb USB2 Hdd in enclosure.
When I returned this February I had with me close on 0.9 TB of file storage. Now, I know you lot use P2P stuff so I will leave it to your imagination of what I managed to fill it with bearing in mind I was on a gigabit ethernet local area network running DC++ :D :D :D
If you goto the following site you will see the project. I am sure you are all aware what a .50 cal ammo tin looks
Http://yorkcov.ath.cx
My next project is to fit another machine in a smaller (thinner) tin than that :D Have the hardware, just awaiting a moment in time to get the planning sorted.
Bearing in mind I am NOT the one doing the building and setting up. I have a SysAdmin Guru to do such things for me and he likes doing things with his hands and can be bribed with Guiness :D :D

You see, I wasn't the first and certainly won't be the last for this idea.
For example, Mini-ITX have the following:
http://www.mini-itx.com/projects/ammobox/
http://www.mini-itx.com/projects/ammotux/
http://www.mini-itx.com/projects/ammolan/
I wanted something that looked identical to a "normal" ammo tin when it was closed up. All three have holes cut in it. I can stack this machine next to my others (as at this rate I've another planned) and it wont be noticed.
I also have the problem that where I live if I am spotted carrying expensive computers in and out of my flat, one day I will come home to find the door broken down :(
Crime is quite low here, but it also has that "reputation".
I am very pleased with the machine, and when it is at home this is my primary media server. The operating system is Debian-Unstable. This was chosen as it supports Mplayer and DCPP (DC++ for Linux) which are new. It seems the the Samba on the machine as well may be too unstable for use, and may end up being downgraded. The drives are being FSCKd tonight...
I watched the complete Star Trek DS9 series over several months ;) I'm reasonably uptodate on Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG1 and SGA and a few other things :D :D
Oh, and I don't have a TV at home :D

Dont you find that with DC you end up with a load of crap much of which you'll never watch or listen to?

Its called the "Delete" key :D :D
I tend to keep the movie archive, I've got about 200 in there at the moment. As for TV Series I tend to keep the last series if I liked it and then every now and again I drop the ammotin around to a friend at the University. He's got about 8 Terrabyte on tap :D And a 10mb NTL Connection :)
TBH I'm usually working, but when I'm home I'll be around the computers most the evening. I don't have a TV...

Will have to wait until it returns. And I've backed it up. And I have some time available.
Doing more specialist stuff these days so more long distance... for the same money. Anyway, cant you see it well enough from the photos :D :D :D
S'pose I'll have to visit then. :D :D

NO! You can't have it!!!!
Even my other mini-ITX is doing sterling service :) It runs memory map very well and has a com port as well! How rare is that for a modern PC!!! Ok ok! I know I'm digging my own hole....
